I’m considering installing a floating vinyl plank floor in a bathroom. Since the bathroom is a wet area I expect to caulk around the perimeter walls, tub and vanity. Here are a couple questions I have:1. Will caulking around the floor cause a problem with the floor, does it need to expand and contract?2. Should the toilet be set on the vinyl floor, or should I cut the vinyl floor around the toilet?I plan to install over the existing tile floor, which is structurally sound and level, just old and ugly (well that’s what my wife says). The room is fairly small, at approximately 45 sq ft of flooring. The new floor is a Shaw Acropolis vinyl plank from Menards. I wasn’t able to find the Acropolis product on the Shaw web site, so I suspect it’s a re-named model for Menards.
Transform your home with stylish and durable vinyl floors! Menards® offers multiple styles and variations of vinyl flooring that's sure to give your home a whole new look. Some of our chic choices include vinyl planks, residential tile, commercial tile, glue-down or loose-lay sheet vinyl, and glue-down sheet vinyl. Vinyl sheet, rigid core, luxury vinyl tile and engineered tile (with or without grout). Each offers a high level of water, stain and wear resistance, and they're more comfortable underfoot than the traditional stone or ceramic tile you'd normally find in a bathroom.
